Empathize
I begin by immersing myself in the user’s world—observing, listening, and asking thoughtful questions to understand their goals, frustrations, and behaviors. I lead or participate in user interviews, usability studies, and field research, often collaborating with researchers, PMs, and stakeholders to ensure we’re grounded in real user needs and perspectives.
Define
I work with the team to synthesize what we've learned and clearly define the problem we’re solving. We map user journeys, identify key pain points, and distill insights into shared hypotheses and design goals. This alignment helps us define the path forward—clarifying the user’s core needs, outlining potential value, and framing an initial MVP. By establishing a strong problem definition, we ensure the entire team is focused on solving the right thing, not just building the next thing.
Ideate
I facilitate or contribute to collaborative ideation sessions, using techniques like sketching, Crazy 8s, and whiteboarding to generate a wide range of potential solutions. I often bring in generative AI tools to help the team break through creative blocks, explore divergent directions, or quickly visualize early ideas. Whether we’re brainstorming flows or experimenting with different content strategies, AI can accelerate creative momentum—without replacing the critical thinking and collaboration that define this phase.
Prototype
I create quick, low- or mid-fidelity prototypes to bring ideas to life—whether it’s wireframes, clickable flows, or mockups. Depending on the need, I may use AI tools to speed up repetitive tasks, generate realistic data, or create visual variations to explore and test. My goal is to prototype just enough to validate our assumptions and align the team—keeping the focus on learning, not polishing.
Test & Iterate
I put prototypes in front of users to observe how they interact, what resonates, and where friction remains. I lead or support usability testing and rapidly iterate based on feedback—refining the experience while collaborating closely with research, product, engineering, and other stakeholders to evolve the solution.
Measure & Evolve
Once built and released, I track outcomes using a mix of usage data, user feedback, and team-defined success metrics. I collaborate with cross-functional partners to assess impact, uncover areas for improvement, and prioritize next steps. These learnings feed directly back into the product roadmap, helping us evolve the experience over time and ensure the product continues to meet real user needs in a changing landscape.
